Sanju Weds Geetha 2 Re-release: The Kannada romantic drama Sanju Weds Geetha 2, directed by Nagashekar, is all set for a theatrical re-release on June 6, just a few months after its original release in January 2025. The film, which stars Srinagara Kitty and Rachita Ram in the lead roles, had a muted response during its initial run at the box office.
Despite the title bearing a resemblance to Nagashekar's earlier film Sanju Weds Geetha (2011), the director has clarified that the new film is not a continuation or sequel. The storyline and characters are entirely different, although the emotional and romantic tones remain central.
Sanju Weds Geetha 2: Expanded Cut Returns to Theaters
According to reports, the re-release will include approximately 20 minutes of additional footage. This includes additional scenes focused on comedy, action, and emotional sequences-an attempt to address some of the gaps that were noted in the original cut. These enhancements, the team hopes, will offer audiences a more complete viewing experience.
Shot extensively in Europe, the film showcases locations in Switzerland and the Netherlands. The narrative reportedly centers around the silk farming community and their efforts to secure fair compensation for their produce. Interwoven into this storyline is the arc of a wealthy businessman's daughter, raised in privilege, who aspires to become a beauty queen while working for social change. Her decision to fall in love with a man from a lower economic background forms a significant part of the film's conflict.
The film is produced under the banner of Pavithra International Movie Makers in association with Mahanadi Creations, with Chalavadi Kumar and Mapi Narayan serving as producers.
The music is composed by Sridhar V. Sambhram, cinematography by Satya Hegde, and editing by Anthony. The promotional materials have been handled by Vikram Bhat A H, with the music released under Aananda Audio Video.
The June 6 re-release offers audiences another opportunity to engage with the film, this time reportedly with an expanded narrative. Whether the additional footage will change the film's fortunes remains to be seen.
